New Delhi, November 24, 2014: National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and University of Delhi (DU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to introduce Skill based Training Programmes as a part of the Undergraduate (UG) Programmes conducted in colleges and institutions at the University of Delhi, including the School of Open Learning (SOL) and Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB).
The two day recruitment drive under Udaan turned out to be a massive success with over 5000 youth from the valley appearing for selection. 18 corporates representing a wide range of sectors like IT, ITES, Consulting, Banking and Security Services conducted nearly 5,500 interviews over two days in Srinagar, selecting around 2,000 candidates.
NSDC in partnership with the Department of Economic Affairs and ISDC, organized a five day long residential programme for training of senior officers from the Indian Economic Services cadre on Skill Development initiatives across the country.
Udaan, a special initiative for Jammu & Kashmir, announced its largest recruitment drive under the scheme that will take place in Srinagar on 18th – 19th November, 2014. The drive will see over 15 large corporates heading for the Valley to recruit over 2000 graduates and post-graduates in a wide range of sectors, including banking, finance, hospitality, education, IT/ITES and security.
Shri Rajeev Pratap Rudy today assumed charge as the Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge). He was welcomed by Mr Sunil Arora, Secretary, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Mr. J. P. National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) today successfully conducted the “3rd India Australia Skills Conference: Skills for Better Business” today at Taj Lands End in Mumbai. This conference is an initiative of the Australia India Education Council. The sessions during the day witnessed an update on cooperation between the respective Australian and Indian Industry skill councils.
When NSDC and Ogilvy joined hands in August 2013, the unique approach that they adopted together to give skill development a major push was to make “Skills” more “glamorous & aspirational” so that more and more people understand the value of a certified skill and enrol for the same. Udaan is a special industry that is funded by Ministry of Home Affairs and run by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
New Delhi, Aug 19, 2014: In line with the celebrations of the 68th Independence Day of our country and commitments for a new India, Milaap, an innovation partner of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), is rallying individuals across the world to raise INR 33.4 Lakhs, a rupee for each person that NSDC will skill this year. People can contribute amounts as low as Rs. 1000 through Milaap’s website. These contributions will then be disbursed to deserving students as study loans to attend quality training courses. The trainees will repay the study loan to Milaap over a period of time, and subsequently, the people who have supported this cause will be repaid the entire amount they contributed. So, even that little Rs. 1000 will be repaid after it has changed the life of a youth.
August 7, 2014; New Delhi: The second and final day of the 7th Edition of National Skill Development Corporation’s (NSDC) bi-annual Partners’ Meet came to a grand close with a pledge to skill 3.3 million youth in 2014-15. The target committed for the current fiscal is nearly three and half times of what was set and achieved for 2013-14.
August 4, 2014; New Delhi: National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) kicked off the 7th edition of its Partners Meet today in New Delhi which saw more than 650 stakeholders from the skills ecosystem across the country, participate in the event. The event had participants across 31 Sector Skill Councils, 136 training partners, representation from employers and key ministries from Government of India.
July 17, 2014; Jammu & Kashmir: Tata Motors, India’s first automobile company to join hands with NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation) under the Udaan Scheme, has trained a total of 118 candidates (in two batches), through its ‘Tata Motors Certified Works Manager’ programme. The second batch of 62 candidates, who graduated the programme, was recently facilitated at convocation ceremonies held at TATA Motors Service Training Centres (STCs) in Pantnagar (Uttarakhand) and Pune (Maharashtra). These candidates underwent training from 6th January to 5th July, 2014. All the candidates have been offered placement after completion of training and their joining is in progress.
July, 2014; Ghaziabad: The Automation Industry Association (AIA) recently launched a national initiative for the education in industrial automation. This will be an industry guided program for the students of science and engineering and will help academia to better educate, properly train and enrich the human capital of our country that would be deployed by factories of the future. The launch ceremony was held at AKG Engineering College, Ghaziabad. The Competency Development Centre at the AKG Engineering college was inaugurated by chief guests Mr. Dilip Chenoy, MD & CEO, NSDC & Mr. Surendra Prasad, Chairman NBA & Ex Director-IITD.
To build and connect an ecosystem of skill development ‘Globsyn Skills’ has taken up the initiative of hosting for the first time in Kolkata a ‘National Skills Convocation’ at Science City Auditorium on Saturday, 12th of July, 2014 where 3000+ students from 151 colleges and 20 states graduated from vocational courses. During this event certificates were awarded to students from security, banking, welding, IT and mobile repairing sectors. It was attended by the city's top corporate honchos like Ms. Bhavna Chopra – Head, Strategic Projects, NSDC; Mr. Ambarish Dutta – Director, BFSI Sector Skill Council, Mr. Arunanshu Mandal - Head HR, Standard Chartered Bank and Mr. Gourab Barik - Senior GM, Greenply Industries.
New Delhi, July 6, 2014: the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Technical and Vocational Training Organization (TVTO), Ministry Of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare, Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This is an exclusive initiative undertaken to further the collaborations in skill development between India and Iran.
New Delhi; 6 June, 2014: The UP Skill Development Mission (UPSDM) and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which will for the first time align skills based training imparted by a state government with industry recognized standards.
4th April, 2014; New Delhi: WorldSkills India under the aegis of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), today held the regional (North India) level competition in the ‘Mobile Robotics’ category at Maharaja Agrasen College, Delhi. NSDC in partnership with MIT Academy of Engineering, Festo and Nex-robotics is spearheading the selection of candidates in this category, who will represent India at the next WorldSkills International Competition, in Sao Paulo, Brazil from 11th – 16th August, 2015.
Guwahati; 1st April, 2014: The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), along with the Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) felicitated the first batch of 500 successful candidates from the north-eastern region of India, who have completed their industry oriented training course under the National Skill Certification and Monetary Reward Scheme (branded as STAR). The scheme was launched by the Finance Minister on August 16, 2013 and is being implemented on a pan-India basis by NSDC. All the successful candidates are skilled in the BPO trade and are now STAR scheme certified.

February 27, 2014 – During the State Visit to India by the Right Honorable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at developing projects and programs to promote skills development. This MOU was signed in New Delhi on 24th February 2014 in the presence of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Governor General David Johnston.
February 27, 2014, New Delhi: In line with the objective of making India the ‘skills capital of the world’, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) in its first three years of operations has skilled 13,49,742 people and created a capacity to skill 7.5 crores people in the next 10 years. The 122 skilling ventures that NSDC has approved till date are operating in 358 districts through 1481 fixed and 1101 mobile centres across the country. To ensure that all the candidates are trained on industry defined standards, NSDC has approved 29 Sector Skill Councils, which have standardized 501 job roles in different sectors till date.
For the first time in India, a disruptive thinking, a social behavioural change was being induced in the society to help harness the demographic dividend of the country. If there was ever a time for the demographic dividend that India is banking on to start paying off, it is now. Of the country’s approximately 500 million workforce, 14 per cent is in the formal economy and 86 per cent is in the unorganized sector. However, this 86 per cent is not well-trained or recognized in the job market, say experts.
February 6, 2014, New Delhi: The Honourable Finance Minister, Shri P. Chidambaram, felicitated the first batch of over 300 successful candidates from the National Capital Region, who have completed their industry oriented training courses under the National Skill Certification and Monetary Reward Scheme. These candidates, who were trained under the STAR scheme skilled in 11 different industry sectors, received their STAR certificates on the completion of their respective courses. New Delhi: February 3, 2014: The Kerala Government’s Additional Skills Acquisition Program (ASAP) today signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sector Skill Councils of Healthcare, Plumbing, Capital Goods, Automotive and Media & Entertainment at the National Skill Development Corporation office in New Delhi today. Dr. K.M. Abraham, the Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education Department, Govt. of Kerala and Mr. Dilip Chenoy, Managing Director & CEO of NSDC along with senior officials of the Sector Skill Councils and NSDC, were present during the MOU signing.
BENGALURU; February 2, 2014: An integrated, multi-year skills development program created by Accenture in collaboration with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), awarded certificates to 18 students who have been enrolled under the Udaan initiative, an effort to help young people in Jammu & Kashmir gain skills needed by the corporate sector.
January 16, 2014: NSDA and British Council jointly convene a series of Think Tank meetings periodically during which India and UK stakeholders discuss and identify key priorities which are then followed up through projects and/ or further discussed during smaller specialist and focussed round table meetings, for similar outcomes. The second meeting of the English Skills for Employability (ESfE) Think Tank Series was held at the British Council.
